Have you enquired about ordering a book?

UPDATE iconThis is a message to just a select few people, ones who have contacted me by email through this website but have not come back to me when I have replied.

I’m talking to you, Ian Hirsst, Jean Wood (nee Aitken),  and Fred Goodyer.

I have responded to your enquiries but my replies have probably gone straight into your spam/junk filters, so you will need to check there. If you are still interested in my sending you copies then you will need to get in touch.

I will delete this post just as soon as it evokes the necessary response from these individuals.

Edit! If you have contacted me via email about a book then PLEASE check your SPAM/JUNK filter as I have replied to every email but not everybody has got back to me.

Biographies

Brief biography of John Morshead added

Morshead postcard
Is this John Morshead? I’d guess that it is.

I have now added a fairly detailed biography of John Morshead who ran the shop and post office that we all now know as Greens. I have researched him through the various census returns and Kelly’s Directories as well as other relevant sources (birth, marriage, death, probate) and I believe that I have managed to pin down most of the pertinent facts.

Click the picture here to read it or use the ‘PEOPLE‘ section of the site to navigate there.

New page added

Undated War Memorial High Street TUCK BGHM4
[BGHM.4.] “The Memorial and Village, Bassingham” (Raphael Tuck, c1942)
It’s a little overdue, but I have finally got around to creating a page celebrating the village war memorial. You’ll find it in the section entitled ‘Places of Interest’ or you can click the picture here.

Feel free to add any comments there that you wish.

New FOR SALE section added

UPDATE iconI have decided to offer up some of the surplus postcards that have come into my possession over the years. They are all in really good condition and whilst they are not of Bassingham itself, they depict villages close by and might represent homes and views that some of you might know.

You can either click the link here or use the main menu to find the relevant page.
