I bought this item on eBay in early 2022 and I’ll confess that I don’t really know what it is. Published at the turn of the New Year (mentioned in the narrative) it appears to be the four centre pages of a parish magazine dated January 1891 which covers not only the news, baptisms, marriages and burials at Bassingham, but also those of the surrounding areas of Doddington, Swinderby, Thorpe-on-the-Hill, North Hykeham, Carlton-le-Moorland, Stapleford and Aubourn.
Judging by the text, it would seem that the good people of Bassingham were not so keen on stumping up what they owed for their subscriptions to the magazine back then! 😂
If your family has deep roots in the village or one of those other areas, then this could be a very useful document.
